Our Musicians:

This is certainly not a complete list, and we hope to encourage many more musicians to join it. Music adds life to many of our events.

Buffalo Gals

Estacada Madrigal Singers

Traditional madrigals, hymns and folk songs are the core repertoire of this local group.

Heartstrings

This hammered dulcimer and acoustic double bass duo is a frequent entertainer at the Philip Foster Farm. Their latest CD, titled Heartstrings at Oregon Historical Landmarks, was produced in cooperation with the Jacknife-Zion-Horseheaven Historical Society and three other historical organizations, and is available in the Farm store for $15.00.

Maggie's Parlor

Michael Gilbert - has been playing guitar since age 8; classical, jazz and folk guitar techniques influenced him. After moving to Portland, he discovered the 9th Street Exit coffeehouse on SE 9th and Ash. “There I heard other performers and what they could do--I was hooked. I wanted to be a part of that music scene and was determined to bring my talent to performance level. From my first hell-ish open mic to now, I'm still striving toward excellence. I'm having more fun now though! Being in No Time 2 Lose allows me the enjoyment of making music as an ensemble--the challenge and the rewards of making good music. Michael is interested in vintage musical instruments: 4-string vintage tenor banjo, bass guitar, harmonica, flute, kalimba, juice harp, piano, zither, concertina and uke. Once you learn one instrument, the door opens to all of them." Mike is an electronics technician and designer also a Board member and Technical Director with the Sandy Actors Theatre.

Michael Roi and Sharon Anne are the vocal duet from the five-member band No Time 2 Lose.  They enjoy performing music that is an acoustic blend of Bluegrass, Blues & American Traditional with a little John Prine and Gordon Lightfoot thrown in. Michael Gilbert, Sharon Hale Sandgren combine their individual talents and varied musical interests to merge this combination into one unit of energy and fun and a glimpse into the past.

No Time to Lose Band

OrchEstraCada

OrchEstraCada is an intergenerational community orchestra in Estacada, playing classical and traditional music. Led by Elaine Butler.

Oregon Old-Time Fiddlers

This regional association travels for performances, competitions and jam sessions, with frequent appearances at the Philip Foster Farm. Led by Donna Foreman.

Sharon Hale Sandgren is interested in any type of arts--performing, visual, musical and has a difficult time trying to devote her time to just one. She placed 2nd in the vocal contest at Stevenson Bluegrass Festival. She has fun emceeing at regional and local bluegrass events such as Wintergrass in Tacoma WA, Mt. St. Helens Bluegrass Festival in Toledo, WA, Longbeach WA, Clatskanie Bluegrass and others.

Some of her involvements as an artist, actor, writer, set designer, promoter or musician include the Oregon and Washington Bluegrass scene, Gresham Little Theatre,  Sandy Actors Theatre and Troutdale Bite & Bluegrass. Sharon is also a member of No Time 2 Lose acoustic string band. She loves to write articles and poetry as well as exhibit her paintings and woodcarvings now and then.  She is an Oregon Native and has a great love for the Pacific NW and its art scene. As has been said by many, “I feel very alive when involved in doing the things I love.”

Upriver Mountain Dulcimers

This enthusiastic group is often seen at the Foster Farm, entertaining guests with old-time music played primarily on lap dulcimers. Led by Sally Smith.
