Boards are nailed to the rafters. Shingles are nailed to the boards. Tom uses a shaving horse to trim the shingles.

Roofing the Cabin August 2nd, 2008- The cabin is two pens with no doors or windows. It has ridgeposts and a ridge pole and rafters on each end.
Tom and Dennis work on the roof.
Long chisel, called a "slick" is used to shape the wood.
Each board gets two layers of shingles, so no rain can get between them.
