Jacknife-Zion-Horseheaven Historical
Society Board
The Philip Foster Farm is owned and operated by the Jacknife-Zion-Horseheaven Historical
Society (JZH), representing the Eagle Creek, Estacada, and Springwater areas in Clackamas County, Oregon.
JZH is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the historically rich
corridor that was once the Barlow Road, the main artery of the Oregon Trail leading around Mt. Hood to Oregon City. Our primary focus is the Philip Foster Farm National Historic Site, offering living history demonstrations
and interpretation to school groups and to the public. (Foster was Barlow’s partner in building and maintaining the
toll road.)
We are devoted to preserving, identifying, and promoting local historical sites,
resources, and collections, and encouraging community involvement and partnerships.
Our vision is to continue building the community of Foster’s original enterprise for year-round use linking the
past to the present.
