Frequently Asked Questions Preliminary Answers:
Who will be teaching these classes? Elaine Butler, long-time manager of the Philip Foster Farm, highly qualified social studies teacher, and experienced homeschooler
Can I participate as a part-time student? EWA only enrolls fulltime students, but the program is designed to give credit for individualized learning, and classes are only held two days per week.
Will this program violate my students' religious beliefs? The class will not discriminate against students' religious beliefs, and will uphold the right of every student to be treated with respect.
Can I participate in this program and stay enrolled in another charter school? State law currently does not allow "double-dipping," even when a student is part-time in each program.
How is this program like a "one-room schoolhouse?" Many grade levels of students working in teams to learn and share information, with one teacher responsible for the whole program. Students dress in period costumes as they present Oregon history tours.
How is this program different from the pioneer schoolhouse? Lap-tops and internet communications are integral parts of the program, which is based on history unit studies.
How much will this cost? Your family is responsible for maintaining your home internet connection, and some incidental expenses for field trips, etc. The program is supported by state education funds.

What if I enroll, but decide not to participate? After you complete the application at estacadacharters.org and express an interest in the History Immersion Program, you will be contacted for an interview to determine whether this program is the right fit for your student. Living History Immersion Program

Want to make progress, make friends, and make a difference?

Estacada Web Academy and Philip Foster Farm National Historic Site team up to bring you-

Complete Curriculum
Hands-on history-centered unit studies and online offerings combine to provide a complete program for 6th-12th grade students, tailored to individual levels, interests, and strengths.

Rigorous Educational Standards

Social studies, English, arts and crafts, music, science, math, and job skills are graded according to common core standards for your student's grade level. Skills are demonstrated through portfolios and real-world presentations.

Fun, challenging learning environment

More than a pioneer school, students are immersed in a pioneer life. In addition, they practice key customer service skills related to the operation of a modern nonprofit. Mixed-age teams of 8-15 students work together to preserve and explain the history they study.

Successful candidates for this limited program have:

1) Online access at home

2) Ability to attend class in Eagle Creek two days per week

3) Desire to be a positive role model for younger students
